Beta rules

Make the piece better for the next reader.

Shelf.human is a private beta for serious article discussion with accountable humans, short quotes, and human moderation.

01

Discuss the article, not the audience.

Critique claims, evidence, framing, omissions, and reasoning. Personal attacks and status fights make the piece worse.

02

Quote short passages only.

Use enough text to anchor your point. Do not paste full articles, paywalled text, or long copyrighted excerpts.

03

No AI copy slop.

Use your own judgment and voice. AI-assisted drafting is not the same as flooding pieces with generic filler.

04

Moderation is human-led.

Reports and signals help moderators review. They do not automatically ban users, hide posts, or reorder discussion.

05

Assume the beta is visible.

Profiles, annotations, and discussion posts are public to beta members unless moderators remove them.
